A month before my departure from Nepal, I was sitting in my room sorting through my belongings when I stumbled across a Nepal Tourism Board brochure. I had not read it since the day I took it from the Tourist Information counter at the airport almost six months before. I flipped it open and browsed the recommended activities list. A sinking feeling of regret came over me. Right on the top of that list, in a bright big font, the word ‘Trekking’ shouted out at me. I was going to leave the country without having experienced “a big part of the ultimate Himalayan adventure”, as the tagline proclaimed.

Origin of Kirtipur
Kirtipur is one of the oldest settlements in the Kathmandu Valley. This small town is recorded as an ancient capital of Nepal. Kirtipur means “a famed town” in Nepali language is also known as “kipu” and “kyapu”. The location of this small town is different from the other main towns of the valley in the same that occupies the top of a steep rocky hill. This city of glory is inhabited by Newars, which are the earliest settlers in the Valley with their own language and culture.

Yala Sambat 5020

Margh 1st – new year colebration of Kirati, Prayer of earth and nature, celebrate new year with the rember of their ancient king “Yalambar” . So, the title is called “Yala”.Yala called Yalamber.

In this day people boiled "Tarul (Root food)". According to the Bairage Kaila, Kirati used to take 43 types of species of root food. Among the cost of Kirati, Rai, Limbhu,, Sunuwar and Yakha had plays vital role to take legamate of their sambat. Rai says Yale Dong, Limbhu says Tanngbay and Sunuwar says Thochew for their new year.
