Page 1 of 9 Langtang is a area in Nepal to the north of Kathmandu and bordering Tibet. It contain 1710 sq. km. area. Langtang is the nearest wildlife park to Kathmandu. The area extends from 32 km. north of Kathmandu to the Nepal-China (Tibet) border. Langtang is also called "The land of Yak".
![]() Langtang Trekking It is sheltered as a national park and has a numeral of tall peaks including Langtang (7246m). About 4,500 peoples live inside the park, and a lot of more depend on it for timber and firewood. The main residents of langtang are Tamang . The park contains a wide variety of climatic zones, from subtropical to alpine. Approximately 25% part of langtang covered by forested. Trees include the deciduous Oak and Maple, and evergreens like Pine, and various types of Rhododendron. There are various animal life includes Himalayan black bear, the goat-like Himalayan tahr, Rhesus monkeys and Red Pandas. There are also stories of Yeti sightings. The park contains the Gosainkunda lakes, holy to Hindus. Pilgrimages are made there in August. Kyanjin Gompa Monastery is another spiritual site .
