Khaptad is located in the middle hills of the far western part of the country. It is a plateau of grassland and forest at height of about 3,000 meters.

At the north-eastern part of Khaptad there is a small tranquil lake and marshy area called Khaptad Daha which is a religious site where Hindu pilgrims come to worship Shiva on the full moon of July-August each year. Here used to live the austere, the Khaptad Baba, who is known and revered throughout Nepal. Khaptad is a national park in Nepal and the area stretches over four districts of far western Nepal bajhang, bajura,achham and doti. It covers an area of over 300 km² and the maximum altitude is 3300 m. Covers the unique eco system of Nepal's mid-Himalayan far Western region, a 446 km. flight from Kathmandu. The upland is rolling plateau and grassland intermixed with oak and coniferous forests. Khaptad National Park is a great area for trekking. There is a huge variety of vegetation ranging from sub-tropical forest in the lower altitudes to temperate forests on the Khaptad plateau. The fauna is equally interesting and diversified.

Ramaroshan:

The area of Ramaroshan consists of 12 lakes and 18 breathtakingly lustrous green pastures, locally known as Patans.To the North there is an unbroken series of sedimentary rock faces where the local people harvest honey from sheer 100 m high cliffs. Ramaroshan commands a spectacular view of the Budhiganga basin along with the majestic peaks of Mt. Api, Saipal, Malika.

Access: The easiest access is to fly to Dipayal or Chainpur or Sanfebagar from where it is a few days hike to the place.

Accommodation: Visitors should be self sufficient with tents, fuel and food as there are no commercial lodges available in Khaptad.

Yala Sambat 5020

Margh 1st – new year colebration of Kirati, Prayer of earth and nature, celebrate new year with the rember of their ancient king “Yalambar” . So, the title is called “Yala”.Yala called Yalamber.

In this day people boiled "Tarul (Root food)". According to the Bairage Kaila, Kirati used to take 43 types of species of root food. Among the cost of Kirati, Rai, Limbhu,, Sunuwar and Yakha had plays vital role to take legamate of their sambat. Rai says Yale Dong, Limbhu says Tanngbay and Sunuwar says Thochew for their new year.
