133 Km. from Kathmandu, 4 hours by Car & half day by bus, Charikot provides a spectacular mountain views, the prominent peak being Gaurishankar(7134). It is a district headquarters, geographically looking like the beautiful indian city, Dargeeling, situated at an altitude of 1970 meter. We can visit Rolwaling range, Tamakoshi River, green hills and settlements in one time from beautiful small Green City, Charikot.
The region is bordered by the Sun Kosi River on the west and the Khimti Khola River on the eastem edge. To the north east lies the impressive Rolwaling Himal to the western edge of which are such peaks as Gauri Shanker and Melungtse. Gauri Shanker is synonymous with the god Shiva and his consort Parvati.Charikot provides a spectacular mountain view of Gaurishankar. In the eastern upper part of Dolkha township there is a famous roofless temple of Dolkha Bhimsen. The highway to Jiri is famous for the environment friendly approach adopted during its design, construction and maintenance. Jirels, one of the unique ethnic groups of Nepal reside here.

The road to Charikot and Jiri breaks off from the Araniko Hiighway at the 78km mark. Regular bus services are available.

Margh 1st – new year colebration of Kirati, Prayer of earth and nature, celebrate new year with the rember of their ancient king “Yalambar” . So, the title is called “Yala”.Yala called Yalamber.
In this day people boiled "Tarul (Root food)". According to the Bairage Kaila, Kirati used to take 43 types of species of root food. Among the cost of Kirati, Rai, Limbhu,, Sunuwar and Yakha had plays vital role to take legamate of their sambat. Rai says Yale Dong, Limbhu says Tanngbay and Sunuwar says Thochew for their new year.
